The 3A-Historique section of the Amateurs d'Automobiles Anciennes association is a rather ambitious scientific project, aiming to be the collector and guardian of the memory of Lyon's automobiles . The goal is to inform both the general public and specialists with a maximum of information.
11 people from the 3A-Historique team took turns providing information on the Lyon manufacturers who disappeared and their work of remembrance by exhibiting two Rhonyx 500 cm³ motorcycles produced in Lyon, a rare Follis racing motorcycle model with a Gnome Rhône engine and a Follis barchetta equipped with a Ferrari V12 which was the attraction of the stand.
A place was also dedicated to SLHADA , Société Lyonnaise d'Histoire de l'Aviation et de Documentation Aéronautique, based at the fort of Bron, which would remind us that Lyon was also a land of aviation which began in 1874.
The current research work of 3A-Historique was illustrated by an online map and a printed map of 70 selected manufacturers, distributed in more than 600 copies in 3 days at the stand!

While automobile manufacturing has long since left the capital of Gaul, Lyon was, at the beginning of the last century, a veritable testing ground for mechanical enthusiasts. Without rivaling Paris in terms of production volume, the city was home to a true "Lyon automotive school." Between 1896 and 1947, more than one hundred manufacturers embarked on this adventure, drawing on an already flourishing mechanical industry – particularly serving the silk industry – and on a bourgeoisie eager to discover the pleasures of the automobile.
A superb display of 19 automobiles had been assembled by our friends Patrick Huchet and Michel Brotel . The 3A-Historiques group conducted guided tours and provided information to visitors about Lyon-based brands from their stand.
Below you will find photos of the different vehicles, in the following order:
